About Your Super Mate
Your Super Mate exists because the super fund comparison landscape in Australia is broken. The ATO's own YourSuper tool is narrow, Canstar and SuperGuide are sponsored directories, and most "free calculators" use hidden defaults you can't change. We built something better.
What we do
- Plain-English explanations of every major super rule, drawn from the ATO, APRA, and ASIC MoneySmart
- Calculators where every assumption is editable — SG rate, contribution caps, return expectations, fees, inflation, even the tax rates themselves
- Fund-by-fund reviews with 10-year net returns, fees at multiple balances, asset mix, and insurance defaults
- No sign-ups. No "submit your details for a free quote." Your numbers stay in your browser.
What we don't do
- We don't give personal financial advice — that requires an AFSL and knowledge of your full circumstances. We're a general information publisher.
- We don't take commissions from super funds or advisers. Some SMSF-specific pages may link to SMSF admin providers with standard affiliate terms, clearly disclosed.
- We don't run ads that target your super balance or financial situation. No retargeting.
Where our numbers come from
Every super-related rate, cap, threshold and rule used on this site comes from:
- ATO — key superannuation rates and thresholds
- APRA — super fund performance heatmap
- ASIC MoneySmart — superannuation
- ASFA Retirement Standard (quarterly-updated benchmarks)
Constants are held in a single file and reviewed on 1 July each year (when indexation typically lands) and whenever the ATO publishes a mid-year change. The date on each guide reflects the last substantive review.
Who owns this
Your Super Mate is published by SP Williams Holdings Pty Ltd (ACN 683 151 304), a private Australian company. We're part of a small network of independent public-interest finance sites including FairWork Mate (workplace rights) and Savings Mate (personal finance calculators).
None of these sites are owned by, or financially connected to, any super fund, bank, or financial services licensee.
Errors, corrections, and feedback
If a number on the site is wrong, out of date, or missing a caveat, please tell us: hello@yoursupermate.com.au. We fix errors the same day where we can.
Disclaimer
Nothing on Your Super Mate is personal financial advice. The tools, guides and fund reviews are general information only. Your circumstances — income, age, assets, family, tax position, and goals — matter enormously to super decisions. For personal advice, speak to an ASIC-registered financial adviser.
